The Stone Age Centre

Kierikki Stone Age Centre with its hotel and the Stone Age village, built in Yli-Ii along the northern banks of the river Iijoki, are situated in the middle of an expansive Stone Age settlement area, which was inhabited as way back as 7,000 years ago.

Kierikki Stone Age Centre introduces Finnish culture and tales about Finnish Stone Age life to all who are interested in prehistory. The permanent display at the centre displays objects from archaeological findings and presents research history. In the nearby Stone Age village, you can see how settlements were established in the Stone Age and what Stone Age life was like. At the prehistoric fishing camp, you can learn about prehistoric fishing methods.
